Today is Born the association "Torino 1706-2006" . Turin 2006: is not only Olympic Winter games! The impressive sports event which will involve our city can not monopolize all the year of the tourist and the citizen attention. Also the next month we will offer more reason to visit Turin.

With this target, seven of Lions Clubs site in Turin decided to join to recur the memory of this military Event that 300 years ago had involved Turin and it was been the most important of the Turin's history.

In 1706, The city has stood up for four month at the King Sun's siege, till, the 7 September, the Austrian Imperial force together with Ducato di Savoia, had definitely defeat the French Army Corps. In that days all Turin's citizen and them defender rush to every sito of Ducato, have show a cohesion and a sacrify spirit, that since that time, have been a point of force of all citizens of this Region.

In the 2004 Lions members, just after collected some project,, which some Association and Cultural centre proposed, promoted the creation of an association , named "Torino 1706-2006", in join venture with all the Organization of voluntary service.

"Torino 1706-2006" propose itself as a second level organ just to coordinate each single initiative, and in collaboration with the public Istitution (at first the city of Turin) to develope the more sinergy to reach best result in this project.

We will propose a lot of exhibitions, conventions, show, pubblications that will assigned at a common group and also for specialist.

The new Association, composed by specialist, hope to find in all the city population a warm sharing which 100 years ago had permitted at "Comitato 1906" to give up a big importance to the bicentenary event.
